Friday 18th June (after the football,) we've To Arms Etc; + Voodoo Trash

This week some globe trotted electronic pop for you;

TO ARMS ETC;
To Arms Etc came together – via Chester, Middlesborough, Glasgow, Valkeakoski and Melbourne – in London during the first half of 2008. Their first album, Corner Games, was released through Bronzerat Records (Gemma Ray, Joe Gideon and the Shark) in March 2009. Although initially based on the piano-led songwriting of Charles Campbell-Jones, To Arms Etc’s sound has since developed into a fiercely independent, complex mix that calls to mind diverse artists such as Goblin, Van der Graaf Generator, Devo, Les Rita Mitsouko and even Dennis Wilson. (The band members themselves like to call it ‘Progressing Rock’ – that is, ambitious music without the snobbery.) Meanwhile in To Arms Etc’s lyrical world nothing is quite what it seems: images alternately rub up and jar against each other, and the mood can turn on a dime, just as in real life. To Arms Etc are currently halfway through recording their second album with producer Ben Thackeray.
